Discover the joys of making your own lampwork beads using a HotHead torch, a canister of MAPP gas, and Bullseye glass rods. During this six-week class, you will learn the history of lampwork beads; how to safely set up your workspace; necessary tools and techniques. Each class will start with a demonstration of a new Bead making technique and then you'll get to practice, practice, and practice.
Learn about:
Winding - the "perfect" round bead, cylindrical bead and flat bead
Dots - how to add them and the many decorating designs using dots
Stringers - how to make them and use them to decorate a bead
Plunged dots - how to make them and when to use them
Thompson enamels - what they are and how to use them for an organic look.
Dichroic Glass - put the shine into your beads with this mysterious but fun glass.
Maximum 8 students. Students must use their own Didymium eye protection, which can be purchased at C3.
